David Sly

David Sly, originally from Rutland, Vermont, graduated from the Rochester Institute of Technology, Rochester, NY in 2006 with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology.  A Distinguished Military Graduate, Dave went on to serve 4 years in the U.S. Army with the 101st Airborne Division in Fort Campbell, Kentucky. Following active service, he remained in the Army National Guard and later the Army Reserve, which has included time in command and selection to receive the highly selective General Douglas MacArthur Leadership Award. He is still serving, and is currently the Assistant Chief of Staff, Intelligence for the 353rdCivil Affairs Command in New York, NY.

Dave got his start in education and career development in 2010, managing a school to work grant program in alternative/special education at the secondary level. In 2015, he began advising veterans transitioning from active service in developing and achieving mid-career professional goals as a part of Syracuse University’s Institute for Veteran’s and Military Families. In 2018, he was selected to build a college-level career services program for students in the Falk College of Sport and Human Dynamics, his current role, and has since completed a Master of Arts in Anthropology and an Executive Master of Public Administration from Syracuse University’s Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs.

Dave currently resides in Marcellus, NY with his wife, Bethany (Agricola) Sly, daughter, Juliette, and son, Henry. They enjoy skiing, hiking, music, and travel.
